" 'HINDI' HAI HUM WATAN HAI HINDUSTAN HAMARA------" WHAT DID SIR IQBAL MOHAMMED MEAN?

SAARE JAHAN SE ACHHA HINDUSTAN HAMARA!

( OUR HINDUSTAN IS GREATER THAN THE WHOLE WORLD!)
Dr Sir IQBAL MOHAMMED wrote this beautiful motivational poem--exhorting all pre-independence HINDUSTANIS to be proud of their CULTURAL HERITAGE. The whole poem is a gem of words and emotions. having had written such a great NATIONALISTIC POEM, he became a SUPPORTER OF PARTITION of his "GREAT HINDUSTAN"? Was there a change of heart or it was something else?
I am particularly interested in the analysis of the following STANZA/COUPLET of the poem:
"MAZHAV NAHIN SIKHATA AAPIS MEIN BAIR RAKHNA;
'HINDI' HAI HUM WATAN HAI HINDUSTAN HAMARA"
( RELIGION DOESN'T TEACH US TO HAVE MUTUAL ANIMOSITY;
WE ARE "HINDIS" AND HINDUSTAN IS OUR COUNTRY."
I am particularly keen to discuss the meaning of the word "HINDI". What did he mean by it? Why did he use this word? Was there any design in this? Did he really think ALL INDIANS WERE "HINDI" IRRESPECTIVE OF RELIGION? DID HE DELIBERATELY SUPPLICATE THE OTHER MORE FAMOUS WORD "HINDU" WITH THIS? I 've a feeling that it was DELIBERATE AND INTENTIONAL.
We all know besides being a great man of LETTERS , Sir IQBAL MOHAMMED was a SCHOLAR OF HISTORY too. His forefathers were SAPRU (KHOJA ) HINDU BRAHMINS of KASHMIR. His great grand father had converted and moved to SIALKOT in PAKISTAN. He had convincingly said:
"ROMAN, MISHAR(EGYPT) & YUNAN(GREECE)-
SAB MIT GAYE JAHAN SE;
KUCHH BAAT HAI KI HAST MITATI NAHIN HAMARI---
SADIYON RAHA HAI DUSHMAN DAUR-E-JAMAN HAMARA"
( ROME, EGYPT AND GREEK CIVILISATIONS ---
HAVE DISAPPEARED FROM THE FACE OF THE EARTH;
THERE IS SOMETHING IN US WHICH SUSTAINS US FOR EVER ;
FOR CENTURIES THOUGH OUR 'ENEMY' HAS BEEN AT OUR DOOR STEPS.)
Oh dear, my translation might not be perfect but I AM KEEN TO KNOW AS TO WHICH "ENEMY " HE HAD TALKED OF? Would you like to have a take on THESE TWO ISSUES of "HINDI" & "ENEMY"? Please GO.
